Penstemon ovatus
About this plant
Penstemon ovatus
Type: Perennial · Family: Plantaginaceae · Native Region: Pacific Northwest
Penstemon ovatus is a truly a Bloomsday staff favorite. A tough, versatile, and showy pollinator powerhouse, Oval Leaf Penstemon thrives in a diversity of settings. Penstemon ovatus prefers medium moisture, light, and soil drainage, but will gladly ingraciate herself into increasingly unlikely habitats the longer you look. If there a place you've just not been able to keep plants alive, there's a good chance penstemon ovatus can figure it out. That is, if, by "figuring out," we mean gracing your space with stunning, iridescent, and long lasting beardtongue blooms that native bees are completely adore.
